Faultless is the only way to describe Dick’s Cottage in Cottesmore where myself and seven old school friends met for our annual weekend break. Katie (our hostess) was delightful and had unexpectedly provided homemade biscuits, bread and wine. Needless to say the biscuits and wine didn’t last long!! The thatched property was beautifully decorated and cleaned to a very high standard and fitted out with modern and quality facilities. My only grievance was that we couldn’t stay longer! For a small group or family Dick’s Cottage is perfect for a longer holiday and is well placed for getting to excellent pubs and to do outdoor activities. I’d recommend Simon Tebbutt (local falconer on 07989 098071) who entertained us with his depth of knowledge in this ancient sport. Thank you Katie for making us all feel so welcome and for helping me pre-book various restaurants. Best of luck for the future. A gem of a property and well worth a stay.

The cottage was stocked with homemade biscuits, fresh eggs, a loaf of bread from Hambleton bakery, milk, butter and two bottles of wine!!

Fantastic cottage! When we arrived we were greeted by the really friendly owner and shown around the house (which is beautifully decorated). There were plenty of basics and even goodies (like cookies for the kids). There is a local shop and chip shop within stumbling distance – so we had everything that we needed. The owners live in the village, and were very quick to respond to any query.

Stayed here for a family long weekend and can’t praise it enough. It is a grade two listed thatched cottage with a good sized rear garden and patio for dining and games for children. The historic exterior is in contrast to the smart modern interior with all ‘mod cons’. Very clean with good showers and comfortable beds. Wi Fi and tv’s all worked and were simple to operate. The owner is very pleasant and lives local to the property so is available if needed, but she wasn’t as everything was as near perfect as it could be. Self catering it is but there was fresh bread, milk, butter, cereal, tea, coffee and wine. Just enough for you first snack or breakfast and very welcoming. Chip shop, convenience store and pub within a few minutes walk. An excellent weekend in an exceptional property.

Beautiful thatched cottage in a lovely part of the country. The house is immaculate and the garden is perfect for children and dogs. Host was super helpful, especially with providing kit for small children (high chairs, cots, stair gates all provided) so we could travel a little lighter! would happily stay again.
